server is droping links to the files
So we are running 4 Quad pros connected to 5 terabite server via 1gb(1000baseT) ethernet connection. Sometimes while rendering, AE would lose connections with some of the files and show them as missing. These files are never moved or accessed while rendering, but still AE seems to lose them in the middle of the render.
Any ideas what is causing this?

are you using Mac Pro Nehalem computers ? And is your problem that the MAC Pro Nehalem computers ethernet port is disconnecting from your server in the middle of a render ? I know why – because the ethernet chip and driver in the Nehalem sucks, and disconnects when you reach 60Mb/sec. Put in a third party ethernet card (like a Small Tree card), and your problem will disappear. You will notice that this problem DOES NOT HAPPEN on older MAC Pro computers.

Hey Bob thanks for the response but we don’t have the Nehalem computers. Its the older Mac Pro Xeons. Any other thoughts.
