Teaching myself the system and am stuck on: When I’m selecting multiple clips in the timeline using segment mode, I will be able to select a few on different tracks, and then I can’t select anymore. As a former FCP, Premiere, Vegas user I wonder what the trick to this type of basic timeline style edit is. Thanks Avid Forum Users!

Shift+click to your hearts content. Remember to click on the black portions between clips if you are trying to move multiple clips.

This works fine, as I knew. The problem is that after a certain number of clips, maybe with a transition, then I get a “ding” and cannot move the selected clips.

Make sure there is no black (even 1 frame) between your selections. If you have black, you have to select that as well.

    Hope this helps…

Huge help, I think it’s a lay over from my experience on other NLEez to use too many tracks. Selecting those black stretches in between my clips solved the problem. Thanks!

You can also lasso large chunks istead of shift clicking 78 clips and black slugs.

Now that’s the kida tool I’ve been looking for. Where do I find this Lasso?
    -Thanks
