separating audio from video
Is there any way to separate the audio and video tracks?

Yes. Highlight your audio/video track and hit Command – L. This will unlink the audio from the video. The keyboard shortcut is a toggle which will alternately link and unlink the tracks.

If you want to export one or the other separately, then just select audio or video when you export the footage.
