  • Sennheiser wireless – can I send from a laptop?

I have a set of Sennheiser ew100 G2 wireless microphones. I have a belt pack and a camera mount receiver.
What I am wondering about is, can I connect the transmitter up to a laptop’s headphone jack and the receiver up to a self powered speaker that is about 100 feet away?
Has anyone ever done anything like this?

It would be quite easy to do….. BUT you will need a custom made cable, I doubt if an ‘off the shelf’ cable would work.

You will need to mix L+R from the laptop PC and that needs to go into the Sennheiser Tx unit in the ‘line in’ position (the diagram of the connections is in the Sennheiser manual) If the signal is fed into the ‘mic level’ input you will get LOTS of distortion because of the signal overload.

The custom cable will look identical at each end but it will NOT be reversable, the plugs will need to go the right way around.
