OK… I have Sennheiser wireless transmitters and receivers (500 series). The transmitter says that it can take a mic or line input. When I connect an xlr to 1/8″ cable that I normally use to connect a mic to the transmitter… it is way over modulated. Is there a different wiring scheme for an xlr/line in cable? Or… just what IS the deal? Do I need to turn the sensitivity way down instead, or what?
I very rarely need to take a feed from an event audio board… and when I do, I can usually get a mic level out. In rare circumstances I have to use a line level out… and then I usually just use a cable, but sometimes I need the camera to be more mobile, so I need to understand what I need to do differently to make my wireless system perform properly with a line level input.
    Thanks in advance.

For line in you need to connect the source audio to the ring not the tip. Tip is for mic level, ring for line level.

THAT works! I just made a couple of those out of a couple of extra mic level cables… Now, I probably wont need one for a few years… but I have them! Thanks for the info.
