Hey all, I am looking for a solution to the following problem. I work for a growing post house in NY and we’ve recently hired crews in Europe and LA. Each shoot creates average of 200GB of footage.

How can we get footage from our shooters in those locations to NY office?

I know we can simply ship the hard drive but that seems rather archaic. We can also ask them to upload the footage to our Akamai cloud service, but they may not have a strong internet connection.

Are there any other potential solutions?

[bruno silva] “… but they may not have a strong internet connection.”

That’s the key, I am afraid, and it’ll likely take too long via any regular ISP other than Google Fiber or top tier FiOS or similar service. Even with those, unless you’re on SLA or business class service, throttling happens.

I’d look for ISPs, colocation companies, cloud service providers that work with end-users directly. It may end up fairly expensive though, possibly more so than FedExing the drives.
