  • Sending feedback for 720p uncompressed captures

Posted by Walter Biscardi on November 17, 2005 at 12:05 pm

Ok, so we’re up to Version 5.0.3 of Final Cut Pro and Apple still has not addressed the issue of 720p uncompressed Captures. I send feedback on this all the time and if anyone would like to join me on sending feedback to Apple, I’ve gone ahead and prepared an easy copy and paste form for y’all. I plan to send this form several times a day from now until the thing gets fixed.

    Start by going here:
    https://www.apple.com/support/finalcutpro/

Now in the lower right side of the page, click the Send Feedback link.

And then feel free to copy and paste from below. Thanks for hopefully helping to get Apple’s attention on this thing. I figure with enough feedback forms maybe someone will finally notice the issue.

    Subject: 720p Uncompressed Capture

    Feedback Type: Bug Report

    Comments:
Any Batch Capture or Clip Capture of 720p material using either 8 or 10bit uncompressed will result in a false subclip in the Browser. This subclip must be trashed from the Browser and the correct clip imported from the harddrive.

This not only affects initial captures, but also reconnecting media during a re-capture. If the media goes off-line and needs to be re-captured, FCP will not reconnect the media correctly. The editor will need to manually re-insert each and every clip for an entire project.

This issue has been present since FCP 5.0 was released and needs to be corrected ASAP. This problem did not exist in FCP 4.

I hate to sound like a “me too”, but “me too.” Also, thanks for a great idea Walter, I’ll be posting something similar before long. I think this is a good approach, plus anybody who has the pro video support should call and pester them in person too.

I added lib by appending it with…

Given the amount of time you have taken to not address this critical bug, does the Pro in Final Cut Pro stand for Prosumer?
