Selective Desaturation
Posted by Acme2man on September 15, 2006 at 9:59 pmOk people,
I’m working in FCP5 and I want to desaturate a shot, but change a skin tone to incredible hulk green. Can this be done in FCP5 or do I need AE?Acme2man replied 19 years, 11 months ago 4 Members · 6 Replies -

September 15, 2006 at 10:06 pmThis is a version of what’s commonly called the “Pleasantville” effect, named after the film.
You are adding another layer with the green skin treatment, but it should work well for you.
This is a common question with many answers. Here are a few links.

I can do this with a single layer. Once the skintone has been selected, you have total control of that one color. You can both change it to a new hue AND desaturate it in one fell swoop. 😉Kevin Monahan

From how I read the OP, Acme2MAN wants to desaturate the WHOLE SHOT, but change the color of (and colorize) ONE isolated character in it.
That’s two effects (at the very least) on my timeline.

September 17, 2006 at 1:49 amOooh. That’s a bit tougher. How would you do that in two layers? I guess you’d have to roto layer two and add the color correction to that, no? To do it the right way anyway.
