On your numaric keypad, with num lock on, 9 will step ahead on the timeline event by event where 7 will do the reverse. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Media on the timeline are events, not clips.

I use JKL editing all the time, but when you say that you want the event under the cursor selected – which one?

It’s not unusual for me to have 20- to 30-tracks on my timeline, so using the mouse to select a specific event is the only method available.

I see what you mean Stephen. What I find confusing/awkward is that when I use JKL, and say, I want to do a “split” at the current location, I have to reach for the mouse and click on the current-time-indicator, then hit “s”. When doing lots of these, it’s somewhat inefficient.

But, again, which event? Sometimes I want to split just one event, sometimes I want to split them all.

I suppose that you could write a script to split all events at the cursor position. Then you can assign a hotkey to run that script.

I was wondering the same thing. Premiere Pro has this shortcut key, but Vegas Pro doesn’t seem to have it. If it does, the feature should assume you are referring to the track which has focus. So if I have 10 tracks but am currently editing an event on track 7, then when I press my shortcut key to “select event which is under the current time indicator”, Vegas would assume you want to select the event under the CTI which is on track 7.

I love working with keyboard shortcuts because it’s faster…for the same reason….why pick up the mouse when you are cruising along just fine with the keyboard?

Maybe a script can be programmed with Vegasaur?
