    An Avid editor taking his first steps with FCP would love to know if there’s a way to step through individual fields while looking at a sequence?

    Because – I have rushes with their fields reversed – cutting on 2 field rather than first, and encoding to MPEG2 looks like a mess as a result.

    Following that is there an elegant way to reverse the fields? Or do I need to resort to something like RE:Vision Effects FieldsKit?

    Any help/pointers gratefully received.

    Let me translate:

    1. Go to nattress.com
    2. Navigatge to Products -> Set 1
    3. Navigate to G Field

    does that help? 😉

    Sorry. go to nattress.com & look at his G Fields filter in Set 1. It allows you to swap fields.

    Yes, that helps. Thanks.

    Meanwhile, I’d still like to know if I can view individual fields in FCP. Do you know if there’s a function key or keyboard combination to hold down while stepping through one frame at a time?

    Anyone else know if viewing fields in FCP is possible?

    No, you can’t. Unlike Avid, it’s not possible w/o a plug in.

    Kevin –

    Thanks for the bad news. But I’ll look into the Natress plugin. And of course AE…

    Yawn.

    Field swapping can now be done in FCP – there’s an inbuilt plugin for it. To view fields in sequence, G Map Frames in the standards conversion package does it very well.
