I started editing a short film that was shot with the RED ONE camera. I edited for three days with no problems. Now when I open up my FCP project I have to wait for about 15 min while final cut is “searching for movie data in file xxxx.R3D”. Anyone know why this would happen?

It sounds like FCP is having trouble finding the movie data in that file.

Either the file has been moved from it’s original location, or it’s corrupt. Make sure that it’s where it needs to be. If you’re working with the Red generated proxies, your .r3d file needs to be in the same folder as the proxies. If it’s corrupt, you will need to copy it back from your backup archive.
