Is it possible to capture via SDI to DV Codec without using FCP. Is there a seperate capture software that will let me do this? QT Pro only allows to capture to uncompressed.
Also… will a dual G5 be able to handle this?

    Hi,

Yes, you can use Blackmagic Deck Control, which is a free application that is installed along with our driver. It will capture from the Blackmagic card’s input to DV. It should be in your Applications folder.

The G5 will handle this fine.

Ahhh, forgot to mention, I need to do this without incoming TC. I need to use internal tc, the source is an SDI Stream from satellite, not from a tape machine. Blackmagic Deck Control requires TC through RS422.

    Hi,

If you use the capture now option, you don’t need RS422 control and subsequently, don’t have to use the incoming TC.
