I have been searching posts, and still I’m confused… -;)

OK. This is new to me!

Some video capture cards boasts up to 16 channels of SDI audio i/o

I guess this gives the option to record/playback these 16 channels to a deck. -;)

    All well.

I also guess this is some cind of (muxed?) embedded audio stream in the digital video signal.

    What I wonder is:
Is there any way I can use these streams from the card to mix audio?
Let’s say they are embeddes AES signals in 8 stereo-pairs, is there some way to monitor this? Or will I need another audio soultion (like a MOTU/Digidesign/set your favourite soundcard manufacturer here) for actual mixing?

If there’s somewhere to read up on the subject, a link is much appreciated!

BTW: I’m on Mac and use FCP studio/Cubase SX.
