    Is there any reason why I should create optimized media from SDHC footage if I create and edit with proxy media and then export with original media? Does creating optimized media somehow improve quality, or is it just to make it easier to edit with high quality footage but renders the same quality export as the original SDHC media?

    There is no need to Create optimised media, your
    Project will render to prores on output at the same quality in the end
