SD Card Unable to be Read; How to Recover Data?
Hi, I just shot this morning on the XDCAM using a RAW SxS SDHC adapter for my 16gb SD card. The memory card was getting full, and I believe that it automatically stopped recording. I took out the SD card. Later, I tried to watch the clips, but the memory card wouldn’t load anything. It’s just a picture of a SxS card in the middle. The green light on the side is not lit, it is off. When I am in record mode, there’s no timecode, just a bunch of 0s. I tried loading it in my new MacBook Pro but nothing showed up, either. I don’t know how this happened — it’s possible I might’ve left the camera on when I took out the card, but I am positive that the camera was not recording when this might’ve happened.
Is there any way to recover my clips? Is there any way to recover the card or make it work again, as it is not loading properly?

Hi Susan,
Does the card shows in the Finder?
If not, open the Disk Utility and see if it shows up there .
If the volume is grayed try to mount it:
If the card mounts in the Finder, copy the MP4 files to your HD.
Then with the SONY Clip Browser you can rebuild a BVAP folder and use the SONY Transfer Tool to log and transfer.
If you find any grayed MP4 file in the card, forget about it. is corrupted.
So far I’ve been able to recover the files from the SDCH cards.
From the SxS cards is a real nightmare.

I checked the Disk Utility and it is not mounting. It also doesn’t show up on my desktop. What else can I do to fix this problem, or are all my data lost?

If it doesn’t appear in the Disk utility, look for a PC.
Try to recover the MP4 files.

see if the card will work in the camera – if so, try copying it to another card to recreate the directory structure on a new card…
