If we use the SD 16×9 format I’m wondering how the image would be handled from the SDI port? We are considering using the xl h1 in a multi-camera production and integrating with “some” type of switcher that will probably only be SD, but hopefully 16×9 capable. Anyone have any experience or suggestions?

    Thank you

Down conversion is full screen anamorphic from the SDI port. Actually, all outputs from the XL-H1 are active at the same time. You can also output HD and SD at the same time, which is a first for an HD cam in this price range and class. Just remember that the SDI output is video only. There is no timecode or audio output in the SDI video signal. The other BNC connections handle those two things.

For more info you really should read Adam Wilt’s very recent review of the Canon XL-H1 at dv.com.
