    hello,

does anyone have any advice on how to create a horizontal text scrolling ticker such as the ones on msnbc, cnn, etc. i know that i can type in the words but i have 11 pages of text. i can copy and paste so the typing is not the issue. the issue is, do i create a comp with a width that goes on forever? and then animate the position. its kinda hard to create a text field that size?

there must be a pretty straight forward way??

    thanks in advance!

there are many ways to do it.

    – you can make a supersized subcomp with all the credits inside and scroll this comp in the maincomp

    – you can make a supersized text layer in your maincomp and scroll this one. unfortanetely you can only see the portion of the credits that are visible at a specific moment in time. another drawback here is you cant draw a bounding box with the text tool.

    – you can break the text into some parts that make sense. and animate all this text with parenting to a null that is animated. dont parent all the text layers at the same time. do them step by step as they need to appear

    – and still…many other ways to do it

    good luck,

This might be your method of choice, as you will run into errors if your supersized layer is bigger than 30,000 pixels in either dimension.
