    Dave you are so correct. Sorry should have been more clear. I found a font that does the bars and I worked out a random generation of the led’s bouncing. by using an array and random generator. but getting it to loop and the cylindrical surface idea is still stumping me. I don’t know if the way I generated the LED’s was the best method for that tyoe of animation to make loop able. but that is what i have so far. Thanks for the response. Any help would be great.

    Dave,

    Thanks CC Cylinder did the trick It actually works really well. the only issue I have now is the bouncing LED’s are bouncing to fast. I need some way to slow it down. the LED’s change every frame I would love to see if I could slow that process down. Any ideas?

    the formula I am using is on a text layer and it is very simple.

    alphabet=”DEFGHIJ”;
    alphabet[Math.floor(random(alphabet.length-1))];

    this is in a precomp that I then duplicate several times and time remapped so they all start at a different point.

    FxFactory has several freebies that do fabulous LED displays.
    See:
    https://www.noiseindustries.com/fxfactory/?gclid=COnc0-H485wCFR5HagodfF70kA

    and look for CoreMelt.

    Ooops, just noticed that coreMelt no longer offers their freebies with the FxFactory download package. Looks like they’ve gone completely commercial. which is fine, their VeeYou filer creates incredible meters of all kinds including analogs with needles and lots of LEDs.
