    Hi guys,

Hoping there is an easy way to do this. I regularly have to digitise old video tapes and chop them up into 20 minutes segments and then render them out to sit on our intranet. Right now, I use Scenalyser to timer record the tapes, Premiere to edit the sequences then I import the project into AE, set the comp sizes to 640×480, shrink the PAL DV videos to fit and add them to the render queue.

Is there any way to automate the manual composition size setting and video scaling (it’s always 87%) and render queue addition?

    Hi Graham,

Not exactly what your looking for but maybe helpful.

    https://www.redefinery.com/ae/view.php?item=rd_RenderLayers

This script renders each layer of a comp individually.
So you could just create 1 composition, drop your video in,
sequence layers and it should do the rest-

You can create an Output Module with Stretch or Crop settings,
just keep your Pal Composition and let the Output Module scale down to 640×480

Thanks for all the help guys.

Jan, the trouble with using the compression stretch settings is the output includes the nasty black and white blocks recorded from the original picture. Resizing in AE we don’t scale down to see the overscan area.

Dave, I’ve looked before for a batch program and ended up using AE. I wish PPro would just do batch.

Andy, that’s a great site, very useful to have all the scripts together,

    thanks again everyone
