screen key replacement
Posted by Andre Van suntenmaartensdijk on November 16, 2010 at 8:25 pmHi,
I work sinds recently with premiere cs5 on a new mac pro. Now i need to change something in an old project, but that uses the screen key in some graphics. On the new cs5 mac version the screen key is gone.
Does anybody know a replacement for the screen key? premiere or after effects..Andre Van suntenmaartensdijk replied 15 years, 6 months ago 4 Members · 7 Replies -

November 17, 2010 at 11:00 amThanks Todd, but i already tried that. I do not get the same effect i’m looking for. I’ll try in after effects to make something new.

November 17, 2010 at 2:04 pmYou may find that the luma key now is closer to the old screen key.
The screen key (as well as multiply) had been broken for at least two releases before they were eliminated.

November 17, 2010 at 7:26 pmThanks for your help Tim. You are right i missed cs3 and cs4. I upgraded from cs2 to cs5. I knew premiere on the mac would mis some effects and transitions (never use transitions by the way), but i did not know adobe has eliminated some effects after cs2.
Cs5 works great by the way and i’m happy with my choice to update my old cs2.

November 17, 2010 at 10:54 pmTake a look under the opacity property for the clip. You can use screen cmpositing. I think that’s what you are after. 😉

November 17, 2010 at 11:05 pmAh…true.
One caveat…any “photoshop” type composite mode in the motion dialog other than “normal” takes the entire timeline down to 8 bit RGB if you’re working in a high color precision sequence setting. This would also apply to any effect not marked with the “32” lego block in the effects menu.
