scratch disc not working properly
Without previous problems for three years, when setting the scratch discs to one location (an external HD)
the media is going to the internal HD. The MacPro is 1 yr old. The upgrade for Final Cut is 3 mo old.maryhill

Beside checking the new scratch disk, you have to uncheck de default (system) scratch disc.
