Scenes Detected Subclips Problem
I need to clean up individual scenes from a bunch of old movies converted to ProRes422. The final product will be the same as the original film, but with clearer sound and a much better appearance.
In FCP7 I would use Scene Detector to automatically set markers for the scene changes, make subclips, and work on the subclips. However, I find Premiere Pro CS6 much easier to work with, and I like the . . . yadda, yadda. Anyway, I much prefer to use Premiere Pro CS6 and not FCP.
After looking all over the place, I cannot figure out how to do this in PP or PP+SpeedGrade. I guess I could manually add markers at each scene change in PP, but there are too many of them to make this practical.
The scene detector in SpeedGrade seems to work quite well and is blazingly fast. Sppedgrade appears to be essentially undocumented, however, and I cannot find any references to exporting the scenes as subclips (or whatever) back to PP.
My short term workaround for the first film is to use FCP7 and Scene Detector to do what I described above, then batch export the subclips as individual .mov files, which I then import into Premier Pro.
This actually works, but jeez Louise, there’s gotta be a better way to do this entirely in CS6.
What am I missing?
TIA
