scene on timline different than monitor
I tried to color correct one clip on the timeline. When I did so, it shifted to a completely different shot. Then I noticed that the shot on the timeline is not the same as the one in the preview monitor. What gives? I can’t have this thing changing scenes on me! Many of these scenes are split from one complete motion picture. I don’t know if that makes any difference. Hope someone has some thoughts.

Yes you are correct, in that this is not the way Vegas works.
Could you post a series of screen grabs of your workspace? At present I\’m at a loss in getting my head around what could be the issue.

Quite possibly you have keyframes enabled that changes overtime.
Go back into your color correcting plugins windows and make sure no
keyframe icons are on the timeline.Steve Rhoden

Thanks for the input, Guys. There are no keyframe icons on the little timeline. I’ll try to grab some screen shots this evening. This is a real headscratcher.

It’s perfectly normal to see a difference in the time line vs the preview monitor. Your preview is capable of viewing the video at a frame by frame basis at any time. Meanwhile… your time line may or may not have this capacity depending on what zoom level you have it set at. If you have it zoomed all the way out for example then it may be showing something 10,20…. 100 frames away from what is on the monitor.
As for the shift… if you accidentally change the zoom level on the time line at the wrong time….
This has happened to me quite a few times as I accidentally bump the zoom wheel on the mouse sometimes. -
I’ll definitely check that out. Where do you set the zoom level? Sorry to be so dense, but this program is very complex for a guy raised with film hanging around his neck! Thank you for your patience and advice!

In the extreme bottom right hand corner you will see 2 sets of pluses and minuses. One set is for zooming vertically and the other set is for zooming horizontally. If you have a wheel mouse you can also zoom with the wheel.
