  • Scan lines after rendering all over timeline

I am working with Avid Media Composer v.2.8.3, an HP xw8000 workstation with an Avid Mojo SDI, Medea 1TB hard drive and a NVIDIA Quadro 4980 XGL graphics card.

We are doing a very gfx intensive show and upon rendering the gfx we are getting scan lines all throughout the timeline. Avid has blamed every party except avid. We have reinstalled quicktime, Avid, sent hem system reports and nothing gets rid of the scan lines. This is also happening on our Mac G5 with Avid SDI mojo and Medea Raid.

What could be causing this? I don’t get this at all with the Avid Adrenaline that has a Galaxy Raid.

if you are exporting a refernece file and getting this hooha, you are best off just laying it off and recapturing it. Avid is nowhere near getting native reference files to work with any external apllication.
    They use to be.

I am just preparing a show for output by rendering the effects. The scan lines aren’t there until I render and the are completely random.

It took 3 hours to go through a 30 minute show and crop the scan lines out.

The are just black horizontal lines that typically show up at the top and bottom of a graphic. The have also been showing up in random places on the video after rendering.

A new theory is that our gfx card is not a supported one and we need to upgrade that. We found errors in the console that tipped us off it’s just weird that there was no actual error message that Avid displayed after rendering…

    ooohhhh thoooooooseeeee.
You will find avid adds this blanking to grafix…seemingly randomly.
Happens with imported grafix with alphas and even in the 3D DVE with a title made in Avid. You do have to crop these out but they are there before ya render.
Just another reason to think after effects for anything other than cuttin’. I’ve had that mentality since the early 90s and they have not givena brother much of a reason to change that way of thinkin’ yet.
