what are the drawbacks (if any) of dropping a regular old mini-DV 29.97/4:3 clip into a 23.98/16:9 sequence and scaling the clip to 133%.
to me it looks just as good as scaling it in after effects but i could be wrong.
what is the best way to do this?
    thank you for your help.

If you don’t see a problem, I’d suggest you probably don’t have one… I haven’t looked at this comparison side by side, but I’ll wager it’s close. There is a setting though you should be using in FCP… select your sequence, and type cmd+zero to open it’s settings. in the processing tab, select high quality for the motion filtering quality. This will improve the scaling you’re doing.
