Hi, I think I could need some help with expressions…

I have 29 identical projects. In every project I have 5 almost identical comps. In every comp there is 4 footages (logos) that are located in different positions in every comp.

In every project I use replace footage to add the new 4 logos for every project in their right positions. The problem is that the logos scale vary from file to file. To correct this I don’t want to scale down or up the logo in every Comp.

What I want to do is to change the scale for footages “F1” – “F4” in Comp “C1” so the Scale for footage “F1” – “F4” changes in Comp “C2” – “C5” as well.

I guess there is a quite simple expression to use for this, but I’m new at this…

    Help anyone?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

If you’re not animating the scale, just copy-paste the value throughout the 5 comps,
because you’ll need to copy-paste or re-pickwhip the expression anyway for every logo…
And besides, you may still have to tweak here and there to stay within the safety or whatnot.

If you absolutely do need an expression,

make sure you see the two timelines at the same time. Make sure you see all the scale-attributes in both timelines
Add an expression to the scale in comp 2 (option-click the stopwatch icon)
use the Pickwhip to point at the scale property of the corresponding logo in the timeline of Comp 1.
    you’ll get something like this:

    comp(“Comp 1”).layer(“Footage 1”).transform.scale

    repeat for all 4 logos.

A script could be written to automatically copy the value (or the expression) throughout the 5 comps, but I don’t see a huge benefit in time there.
