I have a master clip that is about 30 min. I would like to delete the master clip but leave behind 2 or 3 shots in a new bin. Surely this can be done without recapturing, help me find an eaiser way? Thanks!
    Running: Avid Xpress Pro 4.6

Subclip the portions you want to keep.
    Consolidate the subclips.
Delete the orignal material or select this function during the consolidation process.

REad the user guide for Consolidate.

or you could just do video mixdowns of those portions.

…Or you could copy (CTR/CMD C) the portions you want to keep and paste (CTRL/CMND V) them into a new squence…

    And read the manual 🙂

You need to be careful with videpo mixdowns for this purpose as it loses all the source metadata in the case you ever want to recapture, make EDL’s, cutlists, etc.
