Saving out audio with layers in FCP?
Hello all,
I am hoping to save out audio from a FCP 4.5 project to give to my sound designer for use in Protools. She has asked me to save out separate audio tracks for different types of sound, ie: (A1 / A2) character dialogue, (A3 / A4) atmos track, (A5 / A6) sound FX etc. I know that in Avid MC there is an export setting which allows you to export an OMFI file of all audio tracks in a sequence, so that it exports just one file but opens with all the separate audio tracks in Protools, which saves you the time involved in saving out each audio track separately. Is there this capability in FCP using AIFFs or WAVs?

Go to Sequence Settings and set the number of audio outputs you want.
Right-click on the track headers and change the tracks to go to the channels you want them to go to.
Use File>Export>Audio to AIFF(s).

FCP has OMF export too. Unlike Avid it does not maintain audio keyframes (unless you use Automatic Duck).
