  • Saving materials as AVCHD files to harddrive but not use L & T ?

I want to save my clips from the camcorder on a computer / harddrive before im starting to work with them in FCP. But the files are so very huge, and I think it would be smart not to save them as ProRes before I have to. And also when im done with a project it would be great to save the full quality raw materials as AVCHD or another compressed format..

I had this question in another thread but didnt get anuy answer then, but heres the more detailed description:

Is there any problems/thougts on how to copy the AVCHD files from the camcorder directly to the harddrive, and save it as “raw material”, and then at any time I want to start on the project, just Log and Transfer to create the ProRes files and start working. And so on, is it possible to compress the ProRes files when im finished with the project, and convert it into AVCHD or some other highly compressed formats, so I may save the raw materials in its full shape forever without filling up my HD?
