Saving in an earlier version

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you can’t go backwards.

Theres one thing you might be able to do:
Export an AAF.
It might import, if it does it might not bring in all the things you’ve done in your edit (effects), but at least it’s better than starting from scratch (IF the AAF works!)

Another possibility is Export EDL. You will have your own set of problems going down the EDL route.

There is no Professional Editing program I know of that can save backward compatible versions. PPro has never done it. I’d say you need to either keep working with your CS4 on a laptop at school or only cut at school on their very very very old version of PPro.

PPro 1 can’t edit HDV, P2, AVCHD, SONY XDCAM. Pretty much only DV footage.

Most likely I’ll try the AAF route because I don’t really want to start editing at home…
I’ve only captured the footage from a camera (DV Footage, and I did it at home because my school doesn’t have the right hook up abilities on their computers).
And then I split it up…I didn’t add any effects or titles yet…

This is mainly because this project was a group project and many people are supposed to be editing it…however, it’s due Wednesday so I wanted to get started earlier…

okay, for some reason there’s no export to AAF in my Premiere Pro CS4.

I checked in the CS3 version (on another pc) and it does have the “Export to AAF” function available under Project.
Though, in CS4 it’s not there…

Export to AAF is only available on the Windows platform in CS4.

Try exporting to an EDL.
