Saving edit list

Saving the veg file is the same thing as saving your edit list.
When you open it again, you’ll be exactly where you were when you last had the project open.
Remember to save often!!

Just to be clear about what you are doing. You want to save the edit list but will delete the files? If you do that then having and edit list will do you know good as it will not be able to locate the source files. If you move the files it will have to find them all over again. Hopefully this is not what you meant to convey.

Hi Joe thanks for responding.
Im toldthat the .veg file is efectively the ‘edit list’.
What Im looking to do is remove the wild footage (Id loaded for editing) from the computer. The project is now finished.
However – should I need to make changes to the edit at some time in the future – would I then reload that wild footage, tape by tape and then the saved .veg file would relate accurately to the reinstalled wilds – as if they’d never been removed? is that correct?

You’re correct Colin.
It’s been a very long time since I’ve had to do this but, as I recall, you don’t need to load entire tapes.
Open the veg file and, when asked for the footage, I believe that you can tell it to re-capture only the necessary segments.
If I’m mistaken, I ‘m sure that someone will correct me.
