Saving a pre comp transition?!
I have a project that I’m working on that has several text layers using a transition that I created to make it look like the text bleeds in and then evaporates. I’ve saved it as a pre comp to apply to other text layers, however I cannot alter the keyframes (or any other properties for that matter) without altering the previous comps it was applied to. Is there any way to save the layers and attributes of a pre comp and without having to create a new pre comp for every new text comp?
I hope this isn’t too confusing. I’m still a bit new to after effects and brand new to this forum. I may have picked up some bad habits and terminology along the way of trying to teach myself this program.

Not completely sure I follow you… but you will need to duplicate your pre-comp each time or you will end up changing it in every instance it is used, as you’ve found out.
Select your Pre-Comp in your Project Window and hit CMD+D. That will duplicate it.
Then use your new precomp in the next sequence you are working with.
