“Save Snapshot to File” feature
I work in an office where 3 editors use vegas 6.0d simulaneously. Part of our workflow is to create still images from video. The still images must be 327×240 for our purposes. We’ve found that while viewing the preview window in the second largest size, a 327×240 still image will be created by keeping your preview quality at “preview” and using the “Save Snapshot to File” feature. We’ve recently had an issue in this regard and we determined that in order to create a 327×240 still image while viewing your preview at the maximum size, you need to set your preview quality to draft.
Is there any way to view a maximum sized preview window at “preview” quality and still create a 327×240 still image with one click?
This is a high volume, fast paced news environment so we’re looking to be able to automate this process as opposed to having to change your preview quality every time you create a still. By the way, all project settings are default, 720×480.

First of all, the image size is determined by your preview size. However, it sounds to me like you should be using a script to save your snapshots. Then the script can:
1) change the preview mode appropriately
2) Save the snapshot
3) reset the preview mode back to where it wasThe scripts out there that already do this are typically going for the best possible quality and will reset everything to “Best (Full)”. You could easily modify one of them to use your settings.
BTW, there really should be no size different between “Draft (Auto)” and “Best (Auto)” – you sure it’s not “Auto” vs “Best” that’s making the change in size?

Thanks for your reply, I will look into scripts. Interestingly enough, the best/draft – auto/full debate regarding what affects snapshot size depends on how you resize your preview window. If the preview is at full size, a “Draft(Auto)” snapshot will be 327×240 while a “Best(Auto)” snapshot will be 655×480. Changing from full to auto does not change the size. However, when you resize your preview window to the next size down (in auto mode), the variable that changes snapshot resolution becomes full/auto. I just tested this now. Strange.
