May 21, 2009 at 7:15 pmAlthough Panasonic probably has semi independent divisions but I wonder if the idea behind “Class 10” is that just as SDHC covers SxS (except for overcrank) Panasonic needed something to cover P2. I wonder if Class 10 can handle the 100mbps AVC Intra. If so, it should overcrank nicely depending on how hobbled Sony’s USB interface truly is or maybe the Class 10 card is not compatible at all.

May 23, 2009 at 4:43 amI tried the PANASONIC Class 6 few moths ago.
Don’t work. They behave exactly like the SanDisk Class 4.
They worked some time 20 minutes, some times 2 minutes before asking you RESTORE.
May be the Class 10..

December 2, 2009 at 1:20 pmHi!
I recovered my 21 (2GB) lost files with Data Recovery. But they all were filed as .mov not .MP4. I tried to simply rename them to MP4 but the Clip Browser couldn´t import any of them.
Any suggestions?
Cheers

December 2, 2009 at 3:35 pmIf they work as MOVs than be happy they work. FCP handles EX .mov. On Windows you’d need the CalibratedSoftware plugin but you can test with their free trial.

December 2, 2009 at 6:47 pmWell, I can´t do anything with them. Apparently its not a .mov either. FCP can´t import it, Clip browser can´t. I tried Treasured and the preview showed that its actually the footage I did lose. So I need a converter I guess to fix them…
(Edit)
I´ve just found out that my mp4s probably lacks “headers” which has turned them into .mov. So i guess there must be some software that can add a proper header to make them readble for Clip browserLars M Falkenstrom

December 3, 2009 at 3:27 amHi lars,
Try “RescuePRO”. Is the SanDisks freebee application. It works better in cards than DataRescue, File Salvage or any other (I’ve tried all of them).
If you don’t get that working you will need to contact “Treasured” if you want to recover the files.

December 9, 2009 at 4:11 pmNope, Rescue PRO didn´t work – but Card Recovery did and Treasured completed the task.
It wasn´t any important material but for a reasonable 216 USD I could have 1 hour of filming restored without any losses. Good to know the day when the shit really hits the fan!So I did use Kensington adapter and Sandisk 16 GB class 4 – was I just unlucky or should I use another brand or just another classification?
Cheers

December 9, 2009 at 5:23 pmHi Lars,
Is really amazing how it works Treasured. Expensive, but in cases, the only solution.
About the SDHC cards, I’m not updated, but sure don’t use the Class 4.
These are the one that let me down. Since then I stopped working with SDCH.
Sure Craig will inform you better.

December 9, 2009 at 9:24 pmHi Tim – I had a similar situation last June with exactly the same card. Card not readable on the EX3. However, I was able to rescue pretty much all the footage as I found I could mount the card on the Mac using a USB card reader. However there was a corrupt clip (the one which I was recording when I got the error message) which caused the spipnning beach ball whenever I tried to access it. Anyway, after trying a few things I found that XDCAM Transfer got me out of jail (Clip Browser didn’t work). If you can get yours to mount, this might work for you:
In XDCAM Transfer, navigate through the BPAV folders to the mp4 files (and once it sees these), your clips should show up. It worked for me, Also I found that a corrupted clip would play until two thirds way through then gave the spinning beach ball. On restarting XDCAM Transfer and positioning an OUT marker a few secs before this corrupt bit, I was able to salvage the ‘good’ part of the corrupted clip.
Hope this helps – after this experience I decided to only use SxS cards.
Martin
