Samung hd lcd monitor
I needed an inexpensive 16×9 SD monitor @ HM, so I picked up the LNR237 w a 23 “. It seems to give you the whole image in 16×9 and the HD looks great but in SD 16×9 it must be scaling the image because it’s pretty rough (aliased). Maybe it’s also interlaced and the LCD is progressive ? I have FCP with an io/la Can anyone recommend a way to clean it up on SD ? I love this monitor but it’s has look right otherwise it’s going back !

ALL LCD monitors LOOK LIKE CRAP with standard def signals. The following monitors look like crap with Standard Def video –
Sony SDM-P234b
Dell 2405FPW
Apple Cinema 23″
Sony LUMA LMD-232
Sony LMD-1410 (designed for composite standard def only).
And now, we have added your Samsung to the list.Sorry – you ain’t gonna find ANY LCD monitor at ANY PRICE that looks good with Standard def.

Thank you, great feedback, would it make a difference to go component rather than s-video ? my aja IOLA doesn’t seem to have a good s-video out. I have my component feeding my beta. I’m thinking of switch, this new IOLA for an LH since I might not be going s video can I then feed the monitor SDI/decklink box to dvi ? It’s getting pricey and right now all i’m doing is SD 16×9 ??

If you take an SDI out from an AJA or Blackmagic or AVID product, go into an AJA HDP or Blackmagic HD Link, and feed the DVI input of a Apple Cinema, Sony SDM, Dell2405,
HP 2335, or ANY LCD monitor – a STANDARD DEF signal will LOOK LIKE CRAP. Let me be clear – to my knowlege, there is currently NO LCD MONITOR that looks as good as a Sony PVM series monitor (or equivalent JVC, Iki or Panasonic) for STANDARD DEF VIDEO.
There ain’t no “tricks”.HD-SDI is another story. All the LCD’s are very good.
