Running Premiere CC2019 on Mac Pro classic
Has anyone tested Premiere CC2019 running under Sierra on a classic Mac Pro? Any problems or limits? Using CUDA or Metal?
I ask because I have three classic Mac Pros stuck on Sierra. I initially believed that I could not run CC2019 on these machines without some loss of acceleration. Initial tests went very badly! But I have now sorted out the complexities and I believe that I can run CC2019 on Sierra on these machines without loss of functionality versus CC2018. I’m ready to try again but seeking collective wisdom first.
I was stuck on the loss of “hardware acceleration” but I now realize this refers only to CPU acceleration and applies regardless of software. Don’t have it now. Won’t lose it.

I’m running CC2019 on a 2010 MacPro. GPU is AMD Sapphire Pulse RX580.
macOS Mojave.
I have GPU acceleration via Metal. -
That’s very helpful. Very similar to my systems though I am still restricting to Sierra.
I presume you do not show CPU “hardware acceleration” for h.264 when exporting?

I am pretty sure no MacPros accelerate h264 export. That’s not a feature of the Xeon processors. The iMac with i5 or i7 can do that, I believe.

You are correct that Mac Pros do not have CPU hardware acceleration, but some Xeon processors do. It’s not simply that Mac Pros use Xeon processors. It’s that Mac Pros are old.
