I just got FCP 5, and tried to install it on my mac (version 10.7.2). It says I cant instal it because FCP 5 doesn’t support powerPC. Is there anyway I can instal the program? Or do I just have to get FCP 7?

Version 5.0 was not compatible with Intel Macs but I think from version 5.1 onwards it was.

I think I remember that was a paid upgrade though so the chances of you finding that upgrade alone would be possibly slim.

You may also have issues running 5.x with later versions of Quicktime too.

Pretty sure that version 5 didn’t support any of the ProRes codecs either so you may well be limited as to what you can do in any case.

Maybe keep an eye out on ebay etc for a legit upgrade version of FCP 7 and use your V5 licence to upgrade ? Probably save you a whole load of grief from trying to get what you have working.

    best wishes

I am running FCP 5.1.4 on a G4 powerbook and on an intel Macbook and I do remember having to buy the 5.1 upgrade.
