    Hello All,
I’m trying to put a shader on some polygons, to make the rubber sole of a shoe. When I use Displacement, the surrounding polys are effected. I don’t want that. I considered simply extruding the ‘sole’ polys, but I suspect there should be a way to confine the material to only effect the sole.
Also, is there a way to use this shader to also add a little bit of thickness to the sole, or does that just take me back to extruding?

you’d probably have to use Sub-Poly displacement to get the texture to limit itself to the selection
