    Hi,
I am using editing systems that prevent me from using Firewire I/O … a brief read of the features says “Time Code Input and Output”… will the Canon XLH1 allow itself to be used as a deck and be controlled by RS 422 deck control?

Having a TC jack is not an indication of an RS-422 interface.

    Hi Thax,
I suspected as much, but the info supplied is soooo minimal, I thought I would at least ask.
Basically, I am trying to obtain RS 422 control so I can use my Avid DS and flame, which don’t have firewire inputs. The HD-SDI & SD-SDI output from the Canon is ideal, but without the ability to stop-start it is going to be a pain in the A.
Yes I am looking at Miranda & Convergent Design bridges, but neither is truly working properly yet (as far as I know)…
Currently, there are no decks either that offer this, so I am still facing a dilemma of how to access HDV material without turning 16 circles to get there
    regards

How about something like a Laird Firewire analog convertor? They have models that put RS422 control on the firewire I believe.
