  round tripping fcp to stp effect not rippling through after noise reduction

  I have sent the audio section of my timeline to soundtrack pro to reduce noise (send as audio)
  But after processing the audio in stp, and saving, the effect does not ripple back automatically, nothing in short. The only way I was able to get the stp process to work was to convert my audio to an aif file.
  And this loses sync on return!!!
  Advice sought (my audio set up is stp by the way.
