  • round trip to “Motion” makes distort in motion?

Posted by Bob Flood on November 13, 2006 at 9:44 pm

    owdy how

I have a DVCPRO50 16×9 seq. in FCP into which i have cut a number of stills of various shapes and sizes (all have DV pixel aspect ratio via photoshop)

Having gotten approval of the stills, i have started to “round trip” them to motion to put slow zooms on them. my motion projects come up as DVCPRO50 16×9.

BUT when i bring them back into FCP the are squashed hosizontally 33.33 and so i have to keep removeing attributes on the clips

Why? Shouldnt the come back as normal ie 0 distortion? or is either fcp or motion thinking too much?

please help me get my head around this

    TIA

    bee eph

Probably they are coming from motion as 16:9 and then getting 16:9 unsqeezed again in FCP. Try sending from Motion as regular pixels.

    hi ned

    thanx!

I just tried that and now the clip comes in fat ie stretched horizontally

i dont know waht this means, but when i open the project properties in Motion, it sez the PAR is 1.19, not 1.20

even when i set it to DV anamorphics, it still comes back into fcp skinny as in 4×3. I have to remove attributes-distort, and then it looks fine.
