Rough Cuts and Trimming
So what is your favorite method of fine tuning the cuts after you have made the rough cut?
A lot of Avid users use the add edit button and do not use the trim method. What is the equivilent of the add edit in FCP?

I apply the Keep It Simple Stupid rule. I hate the FCP Trim tool quite honestly.

nice – and what methodology do you use when tuning cuts? Do you add dissolves first and then tune the cuts or vice versa?
I also noticed that you can’t trim after you have cross dissolves in place. What a shame.

I put dissolves where they belong as I cut, even in the rough cut.
Sure you can trim all day long with and without transitions on the clips.
