Rotoscope/Paintbrush question
Just a quick little question that I’m having a little trouble trying to Google.
I’m using AfterEffects to draw over a video for a little rotoscoping project. It’s been a while since I’ve used the program. I can only Paintbrush when in a Layer Viewer, and since I’m using a Solid layer to do so, the video disappears when I go into the Viewer.
Any way to get around this? I want to frame by frame animate but I need the video to reference from. -

Hi there,
I feel your pain, I’d love to be able to paint directly in the comp panel too.
As a workaround you can duplicate a copy of your video and use that to paint on instead of using a solid layer. Double-click it to open it in the Layer Panel and choose RGBA as the target chaneels. Paint away.
To see your comp update as you paint, go to View > New Viewer. Place the two viewers side by side. In one select the comp panel and lock it. In the other select the Layer panel, it should also be locked. This way you can paint in the Layer panel and see your comp panel update simultaneously.
All workarounds but they help I hope 🙂
