Rotobrushing – is it the only way to cut out a figure in footage?
Hi all
I have a 4 minute vid, the majority of which has a man standing and talking – not very animatedly.
I need to cut him out for pretty much all the time he is on screen. Is rotobrushing the only way to do it (as there are a hell of a lot of frames) – or have I missed a trick somewhere along the line?

Rotobrush IS the trick! Think about how long it would take to rotoscope with masks or paint tools. If the speaker is not very animated, you should be able to charge through pretty quickly with rotobrush.
Depending on the footage, you might be able to pull and composite a series of keys, though getting good edges will be a challenge.
Ideally, of course, this would have been shot for chromakey in the first place.

i guess I should knuckle down and get it done then. It is proving to be the case that every frame is needing a little tickle to make it work – the rotobrush isn’t as accurate as I had anticipated.
