Activity Forums Adobe After Effects Expressions Rotation question

  • Posted by Aaron Kent on August 15, 2012 at 7:29 pm

Hey guys. Using Video Copilot element. Would like to connect Element’s X rotation channel (or any axis of rotation for that matter) to a nulls rotation channel. Problem is, AE and Element deal with rotation in terms of Revolutions and degrees (1X + 220 degrees for instance) Expression-wise this only will deliver the revolution part of the value. Any way to convert via expression, the values on the rotation channels to just total degrees?

    Cheers

I’m not sure I understand the question. If you have a rotation value of 1x+220 and link to that property with an expression (applied to the Source Text property of a text layer, for example), you’ll get 580. Is that what you’re after?

My guess (I don’t have Element) is that Element has more than one parameter named “X”. When you pickwhip to the parameter you want, hold down the Alt key so you get the parameter number instead of the name. That should sort it out.
