Rotating a gear thats abnormal. Looking for a simple technique.
Posted by Mark Pfeffer on November 23, 2014 at 11:15 pmI’m needing to rotate a gear with pads (not a circle). Trying to figure out the best solution of execution. Any ideas?

November 24, 2014 at 1:52 amIt just needs to rotate. Those bumps need to run along the path of the shape.

November 24, 2014 at 3:51 amAnother method would be to just animate text along a path. Make your path the stroked shape of the base shape without the “gear” nubs, then choose a typeface which has a squared shaped period character, and stretch that character to the height you need. Then animate the text around the path.

November 24, 2014 at 5:37 amAll great options.
Figured out another solution. Ended up just making that shape and using the dash attribute on the stroke. To animate movement, I just keyed up the offset feature within.
Back in business. Thanks for all your suggestions.
