  • Rotate camera but NOT light

Hey guys, I’m drawing a blank here, i’m sure it is something very simple. I have 4 layers. A solid colour background, another solid layer but with an element 3d sphere on it, a light layer lighting the sphere, and a camera as the fourth layer. I’m trying to animate the sphere with the camera tool but for some reason the sphere AND light is rotating???…i just want the sphere only to move and the light to stay in place.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks in advance

Using After Effects CC and Element 3D on Mac OSX 🙂

If you’re using the Camera Tool to animate you are animating the camera- therefore everything moves in 3d space. To animate the sphere use the Element 3d controls or generate a Null that controls the sphere and animate that.
If you need to animate the camera but have the light in the same position as it relates to the camera itself, parent the light to the camera and animate the camera.
