Rode NTG4 mic driving me nuts… Anyone know how to get decent sound out of it?

I had a same problem with it on a dslr, so i ditched the cabel and plug it on a Sennheiser EW100 G2 plug on transmitter and plug receiver into dslr 3,5mm jack. Hope that helps.
