Ripping Blu-Rays for Master Storage
Well, I posted this in Videoguys.com Tech Talk without realizing how slow/dead that forum is. So I’m going to give it a go here since I’ll be working in Premiere Pro.
I work for a distribution company, and one of our producers decided to furnish us with retail blu-ray discs as masters. We have full rights to the video in question, so legality is not an issue here (to my knowledge). However, it is my job to rip and re-encode these discs. I know I will need to break the copy protection, which I’m fairly certain I have covered. I’m more worried about the actual ripping process and which program I should use for it. I need something that will support lossless (or nearly lossless) codecs and will also rip everything (up to 8 audio streams and 3 subtitle streams for this batch)
Does anyone have a tried and trusted blu-ray ripper that will do this for me?

I’ve had to do the same recently to do some SD -> HD conversion for a company that was weary about sending over the digibeta masters overseas.
I like Xmedia Recode https://www.xmedia-recode.de/ – The site is in German so you may need to throw it into Google Translate.
It’s really just a front end for FFMPEG, but it seems to handle the loading of optical disc well. It doesn’t remove copy protection but can be used in conjunction with something like Slysoft’s Anydvd that will. It won’t convert subtitle tracks to MOV subtitle tracks, that is a downside.
As a general usage hint, if you rip to MOV, go to the chapters tab and remove all chapter markers. For whatever reason Premiere Pro doesn’t like these chapter markers.

If it were me I would use a somewhat convoluted way of ripping using makemkv then extracting the H.265 MTS files to edit in premiere pro but not as simple as the pavtube stuff.
