I have some files that were ripped from a DVD and are in VOB format. How can I import them into AVID media composer 5 and lose the least possible quality?

I tried MPEG STREAMCLIP for Windows and either it’s not working or I’m not doing it properly. 🙁 Seems like MPEG Streamclip is designed mostly for MAC – even the Windows version. Also, you have to uninstall the full version of Quicktime for MPEG STREAMCLIP to work, and I need Quicktime for other purposes.

    Thanks in advance,

Rename the .vob to .mpg. Any of your software that can transcode mpeg2 files should work.

I’ve figured out a quick fix to solve the DVD and Avid MC incompatible issue.

Certainly not free, but mentioned here for completeness; Drastic Technology’s Media Reactor AMA plug-in supports a lot of formats including VOB.
